About

Who we are

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself.  So Hi I’m Alyssa Mangum! I am the owner & instructor at Alyssa’s Little Dancers.  I have been in business for 15 years.

My dream of carving out my corner of the dance industry started when I was 5 years old watching “Star Search”. I grew up in the best small town dance studio where I learned how important community is to help young dancers grow.

As a teacher, dancer, and believer in all things magical, I have always known that my purpose in life is to spread joy and positivity wherever I go. Whether it’s through a twirl of

my tutu or a sparkle in my smile, I strive to uplift and empower those around me.

All Abilities Welcome

I am a special needs Mama. I know first hand how challenging it can be to find the right community for your family.  I am dedicated to building a community of families that choose community over competition. I welcome all abilities of dancers to come & enjoy the fun of dancing.

After spending years in the dance industry where the only goal was perfection I realized I wanted a space to feel the beauty of dancing even if it was imperfect. The truth is, perfection is just an illusion. It’s a goal that we can never truly reach because it

doesn’t exist. Instead of striving for perfection, I focus on teaching my dancers to be amazing in their our own unique ways. We should embrace our imperfections and use them to create a life that is messy but beautiful.

Our Why

I feel like the “WHY” has changed over the years.  It has continued to evolve & grow as I grow into who I am meant be.

Dancing has always been a way to express myself.  When I first started teaching it was a way to stay connected to an art that I truly loved. I could dance for me but I could share it with my students as well.  I could show them this great trick & then break down the steps.

Then it was a way to support my family as it grew. I was raising babies & a business at the same time.  My babies loved the people who came into our home.  Those dance families have become part of our family.  We cheer each other on. I watch my dancers in school plays.  They cheer my boys on at their events.

It took time to build but it was so worth it! I look forward to seeing my people. The 1st week back after a break is my favorite.  We have so much to tell each other & we are excited to be back together.

The 1st class of the season is AMAZING as my long time dancers come running in for a hug! We joke that we only do sweaty hugs but I can tell you they are really some of the best hugs.

Now it is a way to show my children what it means to chase your dreams. How when you find the people who are looking for what you have to offer you can build a community. I get to show my boys how they can build the life of their dreams.
