October 2022 newsletter

Hello ALD FAM!

Happy fall! I love that we get to greet it with this beautiful wet weather.  It makes listening to Christmas songs not feel so CRAZY…. haha.

I am sending out our monthly newsletter early.  There is so much coming our way in the next month.

choreography. Your dancers are AMAZING!! Truly I have loved watching them grow the last few weeks as they learn new material. Even better when I have kids who have been gone learn half their dance in 1 class.  AMAZING! You should be proud!! We will be finishing up dances next week then we will start perfecting them.

•Fall break. Next week we will be having dance.  MUSD kicks off fall break next week & I can’t wait to sleep in.  However there will still be regular classes.  If your kids go to MUSD & your vacation is planned for next week don’t stress your kids still have plenty of time to learn what they will miss next week.  DANCE FALL BREAK is OCTOBER 3RD-7TH.

• Costumes. I have ordered class costumes & they should arrive the middle of October. We will try them on during class (another reason to get dances learned early).  If the sizing is off for any dancers I won’t be sending home any costumes until we have all the whole class.  I will let you all know when your dancers is bringing home their costume & I will have you sign for it.  This is new for everyone.  It will just help all of us know we have all been give the right costumes.

• Practice videos.  I will be uploading videos of finished dance to my Patreon account starting this weekend.  They will be $10 & it will be a walk through showing step by step each move in their dance followed by a video of the dance to music. We have 9 more classes until our recital. If your dancer is struggling there is still time for them to learn & be confident during class time.  I am offering this as a way to help each of my dancers feel their most confident without doing private lessons.  Here is the link… patreon.com/Alyssasdancers

•Production dances.  This is for dancers 5 & up.  October 10th the production costume money is due.  Opening dance for 5 & up is $40. Closing dance  6 & up is $65. Practices for these dances will begin Friday October 14th opening is at 5pm & closing is at 6pm. Just a heads up I do ask parents to leave during these practices.  I have 20+ kids upstairs & we use all the space.  There isn’t room for watching.

Halloween & parties. Halloween falls on a Monday this year so we won’t be having dance because I am sure your kids would rather be out trick or treating (I know mine would). I will reach out to Monday classes separately about a make up day.  October 24-27th we will have Halloween parties at dance yay! Have your dancer come to class in their Halloween costume (or at least one you don’t mind if they eat in). We will dance, play games, & share treats. I will send out a separate email after fall break for sign ups to bring drinks, treats, or paper goods.

Lastly I realized I didn’t put the recital fee due date in any of the important dates info. I apologize for overlooking this piece. The recital fee is in place of ticket purchase to watch the recital.  It is $35 per dancer & due November 10th. Seating at the recital is 1st come 1st serve.  Typically during tech rehearsal parents bring blankets or signs to save seats for the show. Please please please be respectful with this.  Many dance studios do a recital fee & tickets.  I would love to continue doing only a recital fee it keeps our recital cost effective & really it is one less thing for me to do.

I am SOOO excited to enjoy spooky season with all your dancers!! I am equally excited as we continue to prepare for our Christmas dance recital & all the magic that comes with!! This is really my favorite time of year.  If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out.  I want to make sure that we have an enjoyable recital season.
