Hi All!
Welcome to our new dance families & welcome back to our returning dance families! Classes begin Next week August 6th, 7th & 8th!!!
Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am Alyssa Mangum. I am the owner & instructor at Alyssa’s Little Dancer’s! I have been dancing my whole life.. no really. I started dancing on my mother’s furniture & creating shows from the time I could walk. At age 5 I watched “Star Search” & told my mother “that’s what I want to do!” She offered me tee-ball to which I told her it was for “boys”. My dad offered me karate to build strength & flexibility but smashing a board with my face quickly turned me off to the sport. Dance was the only thing I had in my heart. Here I am 29 dance years later still with dance firmly in my heart. I have been teaching for 18 years (that makes me sound old🤔)! I started teaching at my home studio at the age of 16 but was assisting at the age of 14 (do the math to find my age I can never remember😆). I have been doing Alyssa’s Little Dancer’s for 11 years now! It is AMAZING to do what I love & still be at home with my babies. Who you will meet they will invite you in to watch tv & offer you a snack. They don’t know any different you all are friends to them. My wonderful husband likes to hang out behind the scenes but if it’s raining he will be out there getting kiddos safely to cars. He also helps build the props & sets I dream up. I have had the opportunity to dance at Disneyland, Disney World, & on cruise ships. I have danced in New York with the International Ballet, Steps on Broadway, & Broadway Dance Center. I was Jabber Jaw for Paramount Parks touring company. I have performed the Nutcracker with David Taylor Dance Theater & The San Francisco Ballet.
I am excited for all that the new year brings! New friends, new costumes, new choreography & new goals. I have spent the summer learning some new teaching techniques to help our dancers improve their technique.
I have also spent the summer dreaming up our Christmas recital & May recital. I love the costumes for our Christmas recital they are sparkling & festive! I promise to send those pictures to you by the end of next week. They will be posted on my board for you to see at class next week!
